Date: August 12th-14th, 2011
Location: San Francisco, CA
Crowd: The crowd for Outside Lands is amazing mainly due to the fact that people from San Francisco are the coolest people you will meet. Everyone is super nice and talk to you like you have been friends for years. I made a ton of friends at this festival.
Organization: The organization of this festival was not that great. Their bathroom lines were really long so people resorted to peeing inside the fair grounds. There were also lots of bottlenecks that slowed you down moving from stage to stage.
Stages: The stages at Outside Lands were on par with Lollapalooza, ACL and Bonnaroo. They were nice but it wasn’t anything that wowed you.
Landscape: Outside Lands is held in Golden Gate Park so you are on wonderful grass and surrounded by beautiful trees. You could not ask for a better setting for a music festival.
Food: The food is great. They offer a wide variety to enjoy. The Korean Tacos are freaking amazing. I can’t wait to go back and devour a few orders next year.
What makes this festival special? The combination of a beautiful setting and wonderful people make this festival special. I also like the weather because it’s not hot like all of the other festivals I attended.
What could be improved? The biggest problem is the fact that it ends at between 10pm-11pm. This is a real bummer because it doesn’t get dark and awesome until 9pm. I’m sure there is no way to get around this because it is in the city but it obviously limits the amount of fun you can have at the festival.
Overall Rating: 3.5 stars. I would definitely go again but the early close time limits the number of stars I can give.
